In this expansive Vancouver West Side family home, we began by designing the informal spaces that our client's family uses most, starting with a stylish yet comfortable family room. Although the TV is at the center of the room, the backyard views and wall of decorative shelving serve as alternative focal points directing attention away from the TV when it is not in use. We created an intimate informal dining area between the kitchen and family room selecting a sculptural walnut wood table for its graphic appeal.
The front entrance and office-come-mudroom are treated with the same attention to detail, featuring built-in desks, custom cabinetry and a stunning gold double-sided screen that is visible from both the front entrance and the dining room.
In the formal living and dining spaces we moved away from our usual light, airy aesthetic in favor of a dark and dramatic look. A deep, rich color scheme of navy blue, gold and warm wood tones defines the formal areas of this well-appointed family home beautifully.
